Frequently Asked Questions

How can I register my child?

You can register your child by going to the Registration section and filling out the online registration form. You will also need to print off and fill out the following documents (there is a link on the registration page to download the forms):

Greenville County Physical Form

In addition to these documents we will need a copy of the child's birth certificate and a current (dated 2022) physical.  We would prefer you use the Greenville County Physical form but we can accept the standard form as long as it is stamped AND signed by the doctor.

When will practices start?

Official practices will start July 11. Please watch this site or our Facebook page for updates on the date and time. Once official practices start they will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday @ 6:30pm-8:30pm. (Times and days may vary for Cheer, Flag and 8U teams)

When will the season start?

We have to wait for Greenville county to release the game schedules. Typically the schedule should be out around August 22.  The games can start as early as August 25 but we will not know for sure until the actual schedule is released.

What days of the week will my child be playing?

Typically, 10U and 12U play during the week (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday) and 8U will play on Saturdays.  It is possible for 10U to play a couple games on Saturday and also for 8U to play a game during the week.  10U and 12U playoffs are typically during the week and 8U on Saturday. The tackle season will run from Aug 27-Oct 22 with the possibility of playoffs going into November.

Flag will normally practice on the same days as tackle. (Coaches may choose to vary the schedule slightly.) Flag will play games at our home field on weeknights (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday normally but could possibly play on a Saturday).  The flag season will run from the week of Aug 1-Sept 15.

Once games start will the practice schedule change?

Yes. Once games start Flag and 8U will move to practicing only 2 days a week (TBD by the coach). 10U and 12U will practice 2 days a week and will play their game on the other weeknight. Cheer will be determined by the cheer coach.

Who runs the organization and how can I talk to them?

SGS is run by a board of volunteers.  The board meets every month via Zoom or in-person and any parent/guardian in the organization is able to join at any time.  Parents/guardians are encouraged to take an active role in the organization and are welcome to bring their feedback to any board meeting.

Is there anything else I need to know?

In an effort to keep our registration fees down and to keep our equipment up to date, we have to fundraise to cover all the costs that are incurred throughout the season.  Every year we strive to have 100% participation from all of our kids. Some ways that we fundraise: Attractions Book Sales, Jamboree, Parent T-shirts, Bowl Day (Homecoming) and our Concession stand.

Is there a way that I can get involved?

Absolutely! We rely on the parents to help out and get involved by volunteering in some way.  Some areas that we look for help in: the concession stand (during games, jamboree and bowl day) running the chains during games, team mom (when available), coaching (there are requirements that must be met), and other areas are available during special events like jamboree, bowl day, and awards night. Contact a board member if you would like to help out in an area.
